BC general local elections are held every three years for mayors, councillors, regional district electoral area directors, school board trustees and Islands Trust trustees. Candidates are voted in for a three-year term.

General voting day is always the third Saturday in November. This year, general voting day falls on November 15, 2014.

Mail ballot opportunities
Resident electors and non-resident property electors may be eligible to receive a mail ballot if they fall into one of two categories:

  1. persons who have a physical disability, illness or injury that affects their ability to vote at another voting opportunity, and
  2. persons who expect to be absent from the municipality on general voting day and at the times of all advance voting opportunities.
